How do I play?

You hold five cards. Pick one and walk as many steps as its ATK. After every move a hidden enemy may jump out: if your card's DEF beats their card's ATK, you slip past; if not, it's a duel.

In a duel both sides pick a card and the higher ATK wins the clash. The winner's card takes effect: attacks deal damage, boosts power up your hand, items heal you. Bring the opponent to 0 HP to win.

Iruka-sensei explains everything at the start of Naruto's first episode, and you can replay his lessons from the pause menu.

What are the controls?

Touch: tap a card to select it, tap it again (or press Use) to play it. Hold a card to read what it does. Drag the map to look around.

Mouse: click to select and play, hover over a card to read it. Drag the map with the mouse.

Keyboard: 1-7 select a card, Enter or Space play it and move on through dialogue.

Switch between touch and mouse in Settings > Controls.

How is damage worked out?

The winner's ATK is taken away from the loser's DEF. Every point of DEF that is left takes 10% off the attack. Example: base attack 100, ATK 6 against DEF 8 leaves 2 DEF, so the hit deals 80.

If the ATK is higher than the DEF it's a critical hit and deals extra damage (up to +50%). A tie puts the ATK into the pot, and the next winner adds it to their attack.

Turn on Settings > Damage calculation to see every step during battles.

Where is my progress saved?

Automatically, on your device: levels, cleared episodes, your custom decks and your settings.

When you're logged in, your progress is also saved to your account (cloud save), so it follows you between the Windows version and the browser and to other computers. Your settings stay on each device.

How do I start over?

Go to Settings > Delete save data. Every character goes back to level 1 and every episode becomes uncleared. Your settings and achievements stay as they are. When you're logged in, your cloud save is deleted too, on all your devices.

The sound is too loud or too quiet

Settings has separate volumes for music, sound effects and voices. Language switches the menu theme between the original and the German intro.

Do I need an account?

Not for the Windows version: download it from the Play page and start playing. Logging in is optional and gives you cloud saves, achievements, stats and a public profile.

The browser version is for registered ninjas: create a free account with the Login button at the top of this site, then play right in your browser.

The game won't start or runs slowly in my browser

The first start downloads the game (about 170 MB), which can take a minute. Use an up-to-date desktop browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox with hardware acceleration turned on, and close other heavy tabs. If it still won't load, refresh the page.

Can I play on my phone?

The game works in portrait and landscape and has touch controls, so a modern phone browser can run it once you're logged in with a free account. A tablet or computer gives you a bigger view of the board.
